Tachyscope 1.0 June 2023
In this Blog I will go through the complete build process of my Persistence Of Vision project I called " TACHYSCOPE"
To begin with, Tachyscope was an early animated-picture machine circa 1880, refer to Google for image of it.
My version is a two channel SERIAL led display unit.
An earlier prototype can be seen here at
HACKADAY.IO, link here https://hackaday.io/project/190143-dual-channel-pov-display
INSTRUCTABLES.com link here https://www.instructables.com/DUAL-Channel-SERIAL-POV-Display/
My Final version can be seen here at

Lets get started
What it looks like
Below is the FRONT view
The aluminum "pan" holds the DUAL led displays on a rotating spindle ( circular PCB) as well as 4 selector switches ( black Knobs). The selector switches determine the source data to be displayed on either the front BLUE or the rear WHITE displays, Displays are inserted into a glass test tube, 8 SMT leds mounted in a vertical line and a 9th colored led as a marker indicator.
On the right 1/2 there are 4 more function switches "Knobs" relating to the NIXIE displays, The left Nixie displays, Temperature in Celsius and Fahrenheit then Humidity, cycles them 1 at a time.
The right NIXIES display a series of functions determined by a multi-position switch. Can display voltage, blinking counter, Up counter, Time clock , and finally RPM of the spinner POV.
